Srinagar medical college doctors turn on goons

Jammu and Kashmir
Dehradun, Feb 25: Doctors of Srinagar medical college and hospital on Friday, Feb 25 decided to quit en masse. This follows after the Pauri district administration failed to check menace created by some anti-social elements in the health centre for the past few months.

"Today also, some anti-social elements barged into the chamber of Principal S S Mishra and created ruckus and entered into a scuffle with him. Thereafter an emergency meeting was convened where it was decided that all doctors will quit," Chief Medical Superintendent PD Sharma told reporters here.

All resignations will be faxed to the state health secretary tomorrow, he said, adding that till the resignations are not accepted, the doctors will not attend duty.

However, emergency services will continue functioning, he said.
