Karunanidhi expresses confidence of resuming power after polls

Chennai, Feb 26 (PTI) Harping on his government''s populistmeasures, including construction of concreate houses for poor,subsidised rice scheme and price rise mitigation efforts, DMKpresident and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi todayexpressed confidence that his party will resume power afterthe coming assembly polls.

Addressing a meeting here where scores of persons led byformer AIADMK leader P K Sekhar Babu joined DMK, Karunanidhisaid the housing scheme would ensure that there no huts in thethe state.

"In another six years, all the huts in the state will betransformed into concrete houses as part of the government''shousing scheme", he said.

"You may ask whether I will be there after six years. Iwill also be there, DMK rule will be also there, he said"

The 86-year-old DMK patriarch said with the public supportbehind his party "where will we go".

The housing scheme envisages replacing all huts in thestate with concrete houses, Karunanidhi said,adding three lakhhouses were being covered in the first phase.

He said the government was implementing pro-people measuressuch as providing rice for Re one in PDS shops besides sellingprovision items at subsidised rates.
