Girl dies of torture, two arrested
Kochi, Feb 25 (PTI) An 11-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu,working as housemaid in an advocate''s house at nearby Aluva,died due to alleged torture following which the police tonightregistered a case for murder and arrested him and his wife.
There were several wounds on her body, including burns,which were two to three weeks old, Aluva SP T Vikram told PTI.
The wounds got infected and she developed pneumonia andshe died yesterday. A case under IPC section 302 (murder) hasbeen registered against the advocate and his wife.
The postmortem conducted at the Alapuzha Medical CollegeHospital revealed that there were over 80 wounds on the girl''sbody.
The advocate Jose Kurien and wife Sindhu were picked upfor questioning today and later arrested after the post mortemreport was received, Vikram said.
There were marks of cigarette burns and wounds inflictedby compass and beating.
