Charges will be probed if proof is produced: Achuthanandan

Kottayam, Feb 25 (PTI) Hitting back at his politicaldetractors who have raised corruption charges against his son,Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said thegovernment would order an enquiry if adequate proof wasproduced.

"If these people who raise these allegations come outwith necessary evidence, an enquiry will be orderedimmediately," Achuthanandan said in response to reporters''queries.

"A probe will be ordered against those facing charges,even if it is my son or any relative, if necessary proof isproduced by the Opposition," he said.

Achuthanandan said his office or party connections wouldnot come in the way of ordering an investigation andpunishing the guilty.

UDF leaders have alleged that the Chief Minister''s sonV A Arun Kumar had received bribes from the sandalwood mafiain 2003 and recently tried to sabotage a CBI probe intoirregularities in operation of Bhutan lotteries in the state.

They have also alleged that Arun Kumar was involved inthe ''Smart City'' IT project deal clinched recently betweenKerala government and Dubai-based TECOM.
