Police planning to freeze bank accounts of arrested cop

Mumbai, Feb 25 (PTI)The Mumbai police are planning tofreeze six bank accounts of the arrested Police InspectorAshok Dhawle amid suspicion that major part of the money inthe accounts could be from the sale of the contraband.

"We are now planning to freeze his six bank accounts aswe suspect that he may have deposited money obtained form drugdeals in those accounts", said a senior Crime Branch official.

Nine posh salons and two bars have also come under theradar of the police who believe they were operating underDhawle''s supervision.

"We are also trying to establish whether theseproperties (salons and bars)belong to him", added the officer.

Police had, on February 22, arrested Ashok Dhawale(53), Senior Inspector posted at Protection of Civil Rights(PCR) department and his alleged aide Amar Singh from centralMumbai and seized 1.5 kilo of brown sugar worth Rs 15 lakh.

They will be in police custody till March 8.
