Chandigarh, Feb 25 (PTI) The ruling Shiromani Akali Daltoday termed as "unfortunate" the Congress party''s "silence"on the "killing" of some Sikhs at Hondh-Chillar village inRewari district during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and askedstate Congress President Amarinder Singh to clear their standover it.
"It is surprising that this issue has been highlightedby the media since last week, but the Punjab Congress leadershave failed to issue a single statement on the issue," SADspokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said in a statement here.
He questioned the Congress leaders whether it was aneffort to please their national President Sonia Gandhi orwas there any other reason behind it.
Cheema claimed that the whole nation was shocked andsurprised that why Sikh Prime Minister Manmohan Singh couldnot even bother to share his sympathies with the victimfamilies of this "most heinous crime" of the world which wasan "unprecedented case of human rights violations".
He said that all these developments were an indication ofthe fact that Congress party does not want to deliver justiceto the victims even after 26 years and was adamant on helpingthe culprits, who were none other but members of the Congressparty.
Demanding enquiry by a sitting high court judge of CBI,he said that the SAD would continue to work for gettingjustice for the victims of this massacre.
