J-K VHP welcomes court verdict of Godhra

Jammu, Feb 24 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir unit of VHPtoday welcomed the decision of a Ahmedabad court thatconvicted 31 accused for conspiring and burning a coach ofSabarmati Express in 2002, but asked the Gujarat governmentappeal against the acquittals the High Court.

"It is welcome that 31 accused in the Godhra Trainburning case are convicted by Sessions Court for criminalconspiracy to murder of 59 Ram Bhakts" Jammu and Kashmir VHPPresident Dr Rama Kant Dubey told reporters here today.

He, however, asked the Gujarat government to appealagainst the 63 acquittals, including key accused MaulviHussain Umarji, in the case.

"I appeal to the state government to appeal againstthe acquittal of the remaining 64 accused including MaulanaUmarji. Thenonly the families of the Hindus who were burntalive will get real justice," he said.

There has been a "large victimisation and persecutionof Hindus and conspiracy is going on by the political classand by the pseudo-secular media against the majority... It hasbeen evident in the said Godhra train burning case," healleged.

He demanded death penalty for all the convicts, sayingthey all were involved in the conspiracy of the train carnage.
