KMC to set up committee to investigate fake certificate issue

Kolkata, Feb 22 (PTI) The Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said theKolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) would set up an inquirycommittee to probe the allegations that the previous LeftFront board in the KMC had given 50,000 fake birthcertificates to street children.

An inquiry committee under a retired High Court judgewould be set up to probe the allegations that the previousLeft Front Board in the KMC had given fake birth certificatesto street children on April 13, 2010, Chatterjee said in replyto a question by Santanu Sen at KMC''s monthly meeting.

The Mayor said many of the birth certificates have beenfound to be without the registration number, hologram,signature of Medical or KMC stamp.
