Chennai, Feb 22 (PTI) Police today arrested a 20-year-oldyouth from here for making a hoax call and trying to frame aDelhi-based cop in order to take revenge.
Police said Thoma of Chinnamalai had made a phone call tothe police control room here today saying a man had telephonedhim and said bomb will explode in New Delhi.
Thoma, identifying himself as one Rahul, had given thepolice a New Delhi-based mobile number as the one from whichhe received the bomb threat, a police release said.
A case was filed with the Egmore police station here andpolice traced the particular number to Bishen Ram, a headconstable attached with greater Kailash Police station in NewDelhi, the release said.
Enquiries revealed that Ram had warned Thoma after an eyehospital in New Delhi had filed a complaint there that itstoll free service was receiving numerous calls from Thoma.
In a bid to take revenge against Ram for warning him,Thoma had called the control room in Chennai and filed theaforesaid complaint, the release said.
Following directions from City Police Commissioner TRajendran, Thoma was arrested by a special team and remandedto judicial custody.
