Three held for killing elephant

Erode (TN),Feb22 (PTI) Three persons were arrested forkilling an elephant and removing its tusks,forest departmentofficials said today.

The officials said forest personnel on patrol duty inVarattupallam forest range in Anthiyur noticed three personsmoving suspiciously about in the forest last evening.

They seized from them a country made gun, an axe and alsosickle. On being interrogated, the three confessed that theywere entering the forest to poach animals, especiallyelephant, officials said.

The three also admitted that some days ago they killed atusker and removed its tusks, they said, adding, the tuskshave been recovered.
