SI killed, constable injured in attack
Mathura, Feb 21 (PTI) A Sub Inspector reportedly diedand two constables injured in an attack by the unidentifiedpersons, who freed an undertrial, police said today.
Six motorcycle-borne associates of Amar Singh, bookedin a murder case, attacked the police party at a motel onDelhi-Mathura highway, when driver of the Haryana state bus,in which they were travelling, stopped for lunch.
They were on the way to attend a court proceeding inMathura.
Sub Inspector Om Prakash was shot at his stomach andreportedly died at a hospital here. Constables Amit Kumar andRam Prakash were also injured in the incident.
Fire arms and ammunition of the police party were alsolooted.
"Security has been beefed up and raids are beingconducted at the residence of undertrial, his friends andrelatives," SP (rural) Radhey Mohan Bharadwaj said, addingthat a reward of Rs 15,000 has also been announced on Singh''sarrest.
