Separatist leaders called for shutdown in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb.22 (ANI): Ayaaz Akhbar, a spokesperson for the Hurriyat Conference, called for a shutdown in Kashmir on Tuesday.

The shutdown call came after Delhi Police restricted Hurriyat Conference leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani from leaving Delhi on Monday and to asked him to appear for questioning in a money-laundering case.

All markets, streets, government offices, schools and universities were closed and the Central Reserve Police Force was deployed all over the region.

The recently exposed Hawala trail in Kashmir placed certain senior leaders Hurriyat Conference under the scanner of Revenue Intelligence and allied officials.

Geelani's close associate Ghulam Mohammed Bhat was arrested from the province last month as police recovered rupees 2.1 million from him.

Geelani, however, denied all allegations. (ANI)
