Senior citizen murdered in Borivali

Mumbai, Feb 22 (PTI) A senior citizen was today foundmurdered at his residence in suburban Borivali and a suspectis being questioned in this regard, police said.

The deceased, identified as Subash Desai (71), wasfound murdered in his bed room with his neck slit and injuriesto his head and abdomen this morning, police said.

His neighbours at Krishna Nagar called police afterfoul smell was noticed about the flat.

"After breaking open the door, the police found thedecomposed body lying on the floor. He had injuries on thehead and his throat had been slit," said Senior PoliceInspector Bhagwan Chate of Borivali Police Station.

Police said Desai was frequented by one Satya, the sonof a former servant whom Desai had financially helped in thepast for pursuing primary education. Satya was beingquestioned, they added.

Initial enquiries have revealed that Desai, who had awife, son and a married daughter, used to stay alone in thehouse as he could not get along with them, police said.

The neighbours stated that Desai was last seen onSaturday evening, police said.

"Going by the state of the decomposed body, we suspectthat Desai might have been killed sometime after Saturdayevening. We have sent the body to Bhagwati hospital for postmortem," Chate said adding further probe was on.
