PDS racket exposed in Yavatmal; two arrested

Yavatmal, Feb 21 (PTI) With the arrest of two truckdrivers transporting wheat and other foodgrains meant forPublic Distribution System (PDS), the police have claimed tohave busted a racket of illegal sale of foodgrains earmarkedfor the poor.

Firoz Shah Kasam Shah (40) and Rafique Shah Kasam Shah(45), both residents of Jafar Nagar here, were arrested lastnight, police said today.

They were produced before a local court which sentthen in police custody till Febraury 24.

Wadgaon Road Police Station Officer (PSO) BaijnathLatpatte said the drivers were apprehended on a complaintlodged by Naib Tehsildar N T Bhagwat.

According to the compalint, the duo manipulated theoriginal wheat and other foodgrain stocks after tampering withthe seals of the gunny bags.

The trucks carrying the consignments were also seized,Latpatte said.
