JK govt retrieves 125 acres of land in Udhampur

Jammu, Feb 22 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir government hasretrieved 125 acres of government land from grabbers inUdhampur district of the state, a senior official said today.

"We have retrieved 125 acres of government land fromgrabbers. District administration has constituted teams forverification of such land under the supervision of seniorrevenue officers to locate the land and evict the illegaloccupants from it," Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Baseer AhmedKhan said today.

Stringent action is initiated against the land grabbers,he said, adding, as a prelude to this drive, special teamshave been constituted to conduct spot verification andeviction of encroachers from villagers in the district.

We have also constituted a special committee headed bythe Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), which has submitted apreliminary report pertaining to a few villages, he said.

The enquiry with regard to some villages is being pursuedkeenly so that strict action can be taken to monitor anddiscourage such type of encroachment, he said.
