Five held with liquor worth Rs 2.50 lakh

Dehra Dun, Feb 22 (PTI) Five suspected smugglers havebeen arrested by the excise department at Badowala bridge onShimla bypass road here and liquor worth Rs 2.50 lakh wasrecovered from them, officials said today.

Following a tip-off, the excise team intercepted threecars coming from Vikasnagar area yesterday and recovered 45cartons of English liquor, they said, adding five persons werealso arrested in this connection.

The accused have been identified as Ved Prakash, ShivDayal, Subhash Chandra, all residents of Karnal in Haryana,and Sonu and Sanjay Kumar, hailing from Saharanpur inUttar Pradesh.
