BSP leader attacked

Ghaziabad, Feb 21 (PTI) Two unidentified persons todayattacked a BSP leader here when he was driving his car, policesaid.

Motorcycle-bourne attackers fired on the car ofAmarpal Sharma, a former Lok Sabha candidate, when he wasgoing to attend a function in Indirapuram at around 1:30 pm,authorities said, adding that the BSP leader escaped unhurt.

Sharma said the attack on him is a result of politicalrivalry.

An FIR against unidentified persons has been lodgedand probe into the incident is on, police said.

A 2009 Lok Sabha candidate from Ghaziabad, Sharma lostto BJP''s Rajnath Singh. However, he is likely to fight UPAssembly election next year from Sahibabad.
