Srinagar to get two modern abattoirs in Rs 40 cr project
Srinagar, Feb 20 (PTI) Two modern abattoirs will be setup here at a cost of Rs 40 crores in the next two years.
A modern abattoir is proposed to be constructed inSrinagar city under the 13th Finance Commission at a cost ofRs 28 crore and an existing slaughter house at Rainawari isbeing modernised at a cost of Rs 12 crore, an officialspokesman said here today.
The work on the new slaughter house is likely to start inApril and will be completed in 18 months, he said.
The spokesman said the abattoir to be set up in the citywill have a capacity to slaughter 1,000 animals in a day andwill be run mechanically but the slaughtering will be donemanually.
Srinagar Municipal Corporation will acquire five hectaresof land for the purpose, he said.
Modernisation of the slaughter house at Rainawari isexpected to be completed soon and it will cater to people''sneeds in the old city of Srinagar.
