Action in 2G not to dent ties with DMK in TN, says Cong
New Delhi, Feb 19 (PTI) Ahead of the crucial seat-sharingtalks between DMK and Congress for the Tamil Nadu Assemblypolls, Congress today said action into the 2G Spectrum scamwould not affect the "political alliance" between them.
"CBI works independently. Government of India does notinterfere in its day to day working. The agency should beallowed to carry out its job. The investigation by CBI intothe matter is not against any party but individuals. Ours is apolitical alliance and that will continue," party spokespersonShakeel Ahmed told reporters here.
He was reacting to questions on CBI action in the caseincluding the arrest of former Telecom Minister A Raja andsearches at the offices and residences of top management ofDMK first family-run Kalaignar TV in connection with the scam.
State party chief K V Thankgabalu has said the seatsharing talks would be held tomorrow at DMK headquarters inChennai.
The Congress panel comprises union ministers P Chidambaramand G K Vasan, besides Thangabalu, party spokesperson JayanthiNatarajan and K Jayakumar, MLA.
The DMK panel will be represented by Deputy Chief MinisterM K Stalin, ministers Arcot N Veeraswamy, Durai Murugan, KPonmudi and Lok Sabha MP T R Baalu.
The talks will take place against the backdrop of theruling DMK allotting 31 seats to PMK yesterday.
Congress, which extends support to DMK in 234-memberAssembly, may claim 70 seats from the ruling party.
