UP Assembly passes UP Janhit Guarantee Bill

Lucknow, Feb 17 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh Assembly todaypassed four Bills including UP Janhit Guarantee Bill, unveiledby the BSP supremo Mayawati on her 55 birthday last month.

The Janhit Guarantee Bill promises timely delivery ofinformation and documents like birth and death certificatesand revenue records to the people and empowers them to filecomplaints against officials in case of a delay.

As per the provisions of the Bill, citizens can appeal toCommissioners about the delay and the officials concerned willbe fined if the complaints are found true.

The proposed legislation is on the lines of the Right toInformation Act.

Besides, Galgotia University UP Bill, ShivnadarUniversity UP Bill and UP State University (amendment) Bill,which renamed UP Arabic-Persian University to ManyawarKanshiram Arabic-Persian University, were also passed in theHouse.
