Newly married woman burnt

Rourkela, feb 18 (PTI) A newly married womansustained severe burn injuries only two days after hermarriage in an alleged dowry case at Shitalpara near here,police said today.

Archana Banwal (20) suffered severe burns and wasrushed to the burn unit of Ispat General hospital after sheallegedly doused herself with kerosene and set herself on firein her in-laws'' house on tuesday, police said.

Archana, daughter of Ranjitlal Banwal of Jharkhand hadmarried Pramod Banwal of Rourkela only two days ago.

Archana''s father after receiving information rushed toRourkela along with relatives. He alleged that his daughterwas set on fire because he failed to meet the demand ofRs.50,000 and a motor bike as dowry

However, her in-laws that Archana committedsuicide as she was forcibly married against her will.

Police filed a case in this connection and detainedArchana''s husband, Pramod.
