Haryana orders revenue survey to assess crop loss

Chandigarh, Feb 17 (PTI) The Haryana government hasordered a special revenue survey to assess the damage causedto rabi crops due to hailstorm in the state, especially in thedistricts of Bhiwani, Mahendergarh, Hisar and Rewari.

While stating this today, Haryana Revenue and DisasterManagement Minister Satpal Sangwan said that orders have beenissued to the officers concerned to soon complete the work ofspecial girdawari so that adequate compensation could be givento the farmers after ascertaining the loss.

To assess the crop damage, the Revenue Minister visitedmore than two dozen villages of Badhda, Loharu, Siwani andTosham areas of district Bhiwani. He assured all possiblehelp to the farmers.

While interacting with the media persons today atBhiwani, the Minister said that Hisar, Bhiwani, Rewari,Mahendergarh and Jhajjar districts got a lot of rain withhailstorm. District Bhiwani was the worst affected district insouthern Haryana.

He said to assess the damage to crops, Sub DivisionalMagistrate (SDM) and Tehsildars have been directed toprepare reports by visiting the fields. He said that somevillages had reported hundred per cent damage to mustard,wheat and onion crops.
