Gehlot assures farmers execution of irrigation project

Jaipur, Feb 17 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister AshokGehlot has assured the farmers of Hadauti region execution ofParwan irrigation project in order to provide them extra waterfor irrigation purpose.

The farmers hailing from Baran district, led by theirleader Kailash Dadhich, met Gehlot in his office at the stateAssembly building and demanded completion of the project tomeet irrigation needs of the area.

Dadhich said that thousands of farmers in Hadauti region,which includes Kota, Jhalawar and Baran areas, were sufferingdue to delay in the project because the region''s agriculturalland was not getting adequate water for irrigation for almosta decade now.

Gehlot assured them that the state government was seriousin providing them relief and proposals have already been sentto the Union government.

The irrigation and drinking water project includes theconstruction of a dam on a river in Jhalawar district.

Demanding completion of the project, the farmers haddemonstrated in front of a state PWD minister Pramod Jain, whoalso hails from the same region, yesterday.
