Court awards 10 years sentence to MP resident in drug case

Fatehgarh Sahib (Pb), Feb 18 (PTI) A local court hasawarded ten years imprisonment to a villager in MadhyaPradesh''s Chindwara, after convicting him in a drug peddlingcase.

The Court of Additional Session Judge, Fatehgarh Sahibyesterday awarded 10 years sentence to Janak Raj, a residentof village Ghoura in Chindwara.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him.

A police team of Sirhind, near here, had arrested JanakRaj with 52 kg contraband of poppy husk on November 16, 2009.

The police team had detained him during checking nearDera Mir Miya village and found poppy husk in two bags. A casehas been registered against him under relevant sections of theNDPS Act.
