84 kg ganja seized, four arrested
Mumbai, Feb 18 (PTI) Four persons hailing from Orissawere arrested today and 84 kg ganja worth Rs 1.68 lakh wasseized from their possession in Dadar railway station here,the second haul in a months time, police said.
Acting on a tip off, a trap was laid and the accusedcarrying the banned item, were intercepted in the wee hours,railway police said.
The ganja was found in eight bags carried by them and theconsignment was meant to be taken to Orissa, they said.
According to police, the main accused Chandan Malenaik(25) and his three of his associates had arrived here onWednesday from Behrampur in Orissa. They procured ganja andwere planning to flee the city when the four were nabbed on abridge in Dadar railway station premises in Central Mumbai.
On February 5, 74 kg ganja worth Rs 1.48 lakh was foundin five bags lying abandoned at Dadar railway station. Thebags were spotted by a police constable on platform number 1.
Police is verifying if the arrested accused were the samepersons who left the ganja at the station that day. Furtherinvestigations are on.
