MP to set up ''School of Drama'' to promote theatre

Bhopal, Feb 15 (PTI) In a bid to promote theatre art inMadhya Pradesh, the State''s first ''School of Drama'' would beestablished here which would be the first of its kind in theHindi belt of the country.

The decision to establish School of Drama was taken bythe State Cabinet at its meeting chaired by the ChiefMinister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today.

The School of Drama (Natya Vidyalaya) is mandated toprovide systematic education in the field of traditional,modern and classical theatre arts under the guidance ofleading artists and experts, officials said.

A committee of experts has been constituted under thechairmanship of the State''s Culture Minister, Laxmikant Sharmafor the purpose, they said adding an another experts panel isalso giving final shape to the school''s syllabus.

The Cabinet has also sanctioned 23 posts for the schooland approved budget for the same.

It has also decided to constitute De-notified Nomadsand Semi-Nomads Castes Welfare Department for their totaldevelopment.

The Cabinet has also approved the rates stipulated byState''s Electricity Regulatory Authority for purchasing powerfrom the private companies with whom the State Government hasinked several MOUs.

The Cabinet has also decided to purchase 65 per cent ofthe power to be produced by the 2x800 MW Super Criticaltechnology based Dada Dhooniwale Thermal Power Plant being setup in Khandwa district of the state in a joint venture betweenMP Power Generating Company and BHEL at the rates set by thepower regulator.

It has also taken number of other decisions includingenhancement in honorarium for the gallantry award winners ofthe state and sanctioned 16 posts of drug inspectors.
