Lawyers block road against colleague''s murder

Begusarai, Feb 16 (PTI) Protesting alleged inordinatedelay in arresting those responsible for the killing of theircolleague, hundreds of agitated lawyers today blocked theNational Highway here for several hours while trying toenforce +Begusarai bandh+ against the murder.

Additional Public Prosecutor S N Yadav was shot dead byunidentified gunmen at Jaimangla Garh under Manjhoul policestation in Begusarai district on February 11.

As part of their agitational programme against thekilling, the lawyers under the banner of District BarCouncil called +Begusarai Bandh+ today and descended on thestreets to enforce the call.

They also blocked the National Highway for several hoursat Begusarai and brought out a procession in the town to lodgeprotest, before handing over a memorandum to the DistrictMagistrate Jitendra Srivastava.

In the memorandum, the bar council demanded immediatearrest of the culprits and adequate compensation to thebereaved family members, official sources said.
