Ford India to launch eight more models in four years

Rajkot, Feb 16 (PTI) Buoyed by encouraging customerresponse to Figo'' and Endeavour'' cars, Ford India willintroduce eight more models by 2015, a senior executive of theauot major said today.

The US-based carmaker started 2011 with its best-evermonthly sales performance. The company sold over 10,000 unitsin the first month of the New Year and is now concentrating onintroduce eight more car models in the next four years, AnuragMehrotra, Vice-President (Marketing), Ford India, said here.

He was here to flag-off the company''s Discover SmartDrive'' campaign to promote the selling of Figo car. Under thecampaign, a couple, Krishna Vatikutti and Radha Gunnam,selected from a number of entries, will drive a Figo car fromhere to Surat.

Besides, the company is concentrating on expanding itsnetwork across the country by appointing 30 more dealers,Mehrotra said, adding Ford India currently has 170 dealers.

The firm sold 83,887 units in 2010 and nearly tripledit sales volume against a total of 29,488 cars sold in 2009,he said, adding the auto major has not seen such a huge jumpin sales in the last 15 years.

Ford India sold 10,026 units in January as against2,453 units in the same month last year, Mehrotra said.

Gujarat is one of the fastest growing markets for Fordin the western region and the state has contributed 28 percent of the total sales, he added.
