Sikkim forms subcommittee for NMEICT
Gangtok, Feb 15 (PTI) The Sikkim government hasconstituted a state-level subcommittee under the chairmanshipof the human resource development department secretary tooversee implementation of the ambitiouscentrally-sponsored-scheme ''National Mission on Educationthrough Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT)''.
As per a notification issued recently by the HRDdepartment, other members of the subcommittee are vicechancellors of Sikkim University and Sikkim ManipalUniversity, BSNL (broadband) general manager, SikkimGovernment College (Tadong) principal and NIT Calicut''sdirector.
The ''National Mission on Education through ICTs'', ascheme introduced by the Government of India, aims at becominga major intervention to increase enrolment and ensure accessand equity in higher education institutions across India.
The subcommittee here, as per the notification, isrequired to look into the progress of work and monitor theconnectivity being provided through BSNL and also coordinateefforts and stipulation of action point of variousstakeholders.
It will also hold workshops for teachers of collegesand universities to enthuse them to participate in the missionactivities and use of facilities.
