One held for theft at actress Juhi Chawla''s house

Mumbai, Feb 14 (PTI) City police today claimed to havearrested the person who stole electronic gadgets fromBollywood actress Juhi Chawla''s house.

According to police, Juhi and her husband Jai Mehta hadhosted a party at their south Mumbai residence at Veer Bhavanon January 15.

Among others, an American had also attended the party.

Around 40 people were hired as caterers and housekeepingstaff in the party.

"The American guest, one Miss Chulie, was allotted twoservants and the key of Chulie''s room was only with Chulie andher servants," said senior inspector Vinay Bagade of theMalabar Hill Police station.

A complaint was lodged saying that a laptop, a mobilephone and an iPod of Chulie were missing, he said.

"After the theft was reported we asked the contractor whoorganised the party to provide the list of the 40 people whowere hired and later we zeroed in on the accused SandeepBalerao (28) with his help," Bagade said adding that all themissing gadgets have been recovered.

"Balerao said that he committed to the crime since he hadto pay some dues," the officer said.

Balerao has been remanded in police custody till February17.
