Lawyers boycott court and sit in dharna

Rourkela, Feb 14 (PTI) Lawyers of Rourkela BarAssociation today boycotted the court and sat on a dharna heredemanding transfer of the Superintendent of Police.

The association under the leadership of its presidentRamesh Bal staged a silent procession with black badges andmarched to the additional district magistrate''s office wherethey sait on dharna.

The bar members submitted a memorandum containingtheir demand addressed to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Earlier, the bar association had submitted amemorandum on January 21, 2011 demanding the SP''s transferalleging police atrocity on general public, reign of terror,deplorable policing in Rourkela police district.

Today''s memorandum sought the sp''s transfer withinseven days and a highlevel inquiry into several incidence offailure and highhandedness of police.
