TEA welcomes export incentives
Coimbatore, Feb 12 (PTI) Tirupur Exporters'' Association(TEA) today welomed the export incentives announced by unionCommerce Minister Anand Sharma saying that it would help toenhance competitiveness of labour intensive sector includingtextiles.
In a letter to Sharma, TEA president, A Shaktivel expressedconfidence that with the right kind of initiatives, themerchandise exports would reach the set target of 200 MillionUS dollars, this year.
However, he said that the knitwear garment sector wasstill facing problems and required support from the ministryto face the competition in the US market.
To achieve this, the ministry should announce Market LinkedFocus Product Scheme at two per cent for the knitwear garmentsfor exports made to US also for one year, he said.
