RTI provisions can bridge gap between people and govt: CIC
He said about one million people had sought information from the central government during the last oneyear of whom only 27,000 had approached the CentralInformation Commission (CIC) for redressal as they weredissatisfied with the response received at the level of thePublic Information Officer.
But it also meant that the rest of the informationseekers were satisfied which reflected well on the system, hesaid adding the CIC was initiating steps to make moreauthorities accountable under the purview of the RTI Act.
Prof S C Mishra, Acting Vice-Chancellor of theUniversity presided over the deliberations which was alsoaddressed by senior journalist Rajaram Satapathy and prominentRTI activist Nishikanta Mohapatra.
