Police conduct awareness camp to woo people away from Naxals

Chandrapur, Feb 12 (PTI) A public awareness programme onthe ill effects of Naxal ideology on the society wasorganised here today by the District Police Department atvillage Chimda near here.

Addressing the gathering, Manoj Kumar Sharma,Superintendent of Police expressed satisfaction that thevillagers have chosen not to fall prey to the ideology ofNaxals.

He emphasised the need for a more concerted efforts fromthe police and other government officials to look into theneeds of the villagers and see that the benefits of variousgovernment schemes are provided to them on time.

The Naxal ideology seldom supports development work as isevident from the neighbouring Gadchiroli district where,construction of roads, provision of medical and educationalfacilities, water wells are opposed by the Naxals, he said.
