IPS officer booked in dowry harassment case

Amravati, Feb 12 (PTI) Police here have booked an IPSofficer posted in Mizoram for allegedly harassing his wife fordowry.

The officer, Milind Mahadev Dubare, who hails fromneighbouring Chandrapur district, is Superintendent of Policeat Sarchit district of the northeastern state. His parents andfamily members reside at Chandrapur, police said.

According to the complaint lodged by Milind Dubare''swife Shilpa, he and his family members allegedly used toharass her for bringing Rs 2 lakh from her parents since theirmarriage in 2007.

They often used to beat her for not fulfilling thedemand, Shilpa, who hails from Frezerpura here, alleged in thecomplaint registered on February 10, police said.

Besides Milind Dubare, she has named her in-laws andbrother-in-law in the complaint.

They have been booked under IPC Sections 498A (husbandor relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty),506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by severalpersons in furtherance of common intention, among others,police said, adding further investigation was on.
