Central fund for repatriation not yet debited to state account
Aizawl, Feb 12 (PTI) The Centre has sanctioned Rs 9.7crore for expenses on the resumption of repatriation of Brurefugees from Tripura relief camps, but the fund is yet to bedebited in the Mizoram government account, officials said heretoday.
The Union Finance Ministry sanctioned Rs 9.7 crore onFebruary two, but it was not debited in the Mizoram accounttill today leading to the halt in the resumption process ofthe repatriation of Bru refugees, the officials said.
This despite Shambu Singh, Joint Secretary (NE) of theUnion Home Ministry, having recently urged the Mizoramgovernment to resume the repatriation process by February 10.
Officials in the Mizoram-Tripura border Mamit districtsaid that the repatriation could resume as soon as fund isavailable.
"We have already completed the identification processin all the six relief camps in North Tripura and we arewaiting for the availability of fund," they said.
