Bengal government warns GJM against violent movement
Kolkata, Feb 11 (PTI) The West Bengal government todaywarned the GJM that it will no longer tolerate attempts tocreate lawlessness in the Darjeeling hills and maintained onlynegotiations can resolve the issue.
"No violent movement will be tolerated by the stategovernment any more when talks are under way to find asatisfactory solution to the Darjeeling issue," UrbanDevelopment Minister Ashok Bhattacharya said here.
Alleging that the Morcha had hatched a conspiracy tocreate violence in the hills ahead of the coming Assemblyelections, Bhattacharya said that the Morcha was ''fully''responsible for the death of two persons in police firingwhich is unfortunate.
"I will say that GJM was totally responsible for thedeath of two persons."
Bhattacharya said a negotiated settlement was the onlyanswer to the problem.
