Murthy, R S Sharma, Bhat given lifetime achievement award

Mumbai, Feb 11 (PTI) Chief Mentor of IT giant Infosys N RNarayana Murthy, Chairman and Managing Director of state-ownedONGC R S Sharma and SBI chief O P Bhatt were given theLifetime Achievement Award at the Star News Talent Leadershipand HR Award function here today.

The news channel gave away the awards to the captains ofthe corporate world at a ceremony to ''recognise theiroutstanding contribution to leadership and human resourcedevelopment''.

Speaking at the event, Murthy said," this award wouldmotivate me to work harder and hopefully smarter. My fathertold me early in life to have habits that were easy on thepocket. It never cost much money to borrow books from publiclibraries, sit in parks and have friends.�

In a message to the youth of India, Murthy said thatIndia, after several years of hard work, has received globalrespect and the youth need to consolidate these benefits.

ONGC CMD, R S Sharma, who also received the lifetimeachievement award said, "am honoured to be getting the awardin the presence of my role model Mr Narayana Murthy,"

The channel which instituted the awards for the firsttime in all honoured 26 industry leaders from across thesectors.

Nitin Paranjpe, CEO of Hindustan Lever got the award forthe most ''Outstanding Leader of the Year".

Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD of NTPC and B C Tripathi, CMDGAIL, received the award for the PSU category for ''InnovativeHR Practices''.

Santrupt Misra of Aditya Birla Management Company PvtLtd and Gurdeep Singh of Aircel bagged the best CEO with HROrientation award.

The exemplary leader award went to Aditya Birla GroupChairman, Kumar Mangalam Birla and Raymond Bickson, the CEO ofTata Group''s Indian Hotels Company Limited.
