Kerala: FM emphasis on infrastructure

Kozhikode, Feb 10: The Malabar Chamber of Commerce, today said that the state budget presented in the assembly by Finance Minister Thomas Issac, had given more emphasis for the development of basic infrastructure.

In a release here today, chamber welcomed the decision to earmark Rs 40000 crore for comprehensive road development and Rs 1920 crore for selected state highways.

Earmarking funds for acquiring land for development of Kozhikode airport and expansion of Kozhikode road junction was also a welcome step, the release said.

Meanwhile, Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi, today said the state budget presented in the assmebly was a disappointment.

Though the business community had expected that there will be something for them in the budget, it had disappointed, the release said.
