MCET signs MoU with NITTTR
Coimbatore,Feb 10 (PTI) The National Institute ofTechnical Teachers Training and Research has signed an MoUwith the Pollachi-based Mahalingam College of Engineering andTechnology for giving training to faculty members to upgradetheir skills in teaching and also handling the students.
Under the MOU, the Chennai-based NITTTR under Union HRDMinistry, would draw up a plan for the College-- first inTamil Nadu to enter into MOU with the Institute-- and trainingprogrammes on planning for teaching for newly joined facultymembers,MCET Chairman M Manickam said.
The MOU would also facilitate to undertake staffdevelopment programme, curriculum development, instructionalresources development, R and D and extension and consultancyservices in future, Manickam told reporters here last night.
S R K Prasad, Chairman, NITTTR said the institute wastraining 3,000 engineering college teachers and 3,500teachers in polytechnic in a year in Southern states of TamilNadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry.
The institute proposed to start a one year PG diploma coursefrom the next academic year, S Mohan, Director of theinstitute, who was also present, said
Since the training was customised and need-based for thefaculty members of engineering colleges, it would be a shortduration course for one or two weeks, by which they would beable to enhance their teaching quality, Mohan said.
