Maoists set police outpost on fire in Kandhamal district
Phulbani (Orissa), Feb 10 (PTI) Armed Maoists setafire a police outpost at Subarnagiri in Orissa''s Kandhamaldistrict early today, police said.
Around 50 heavily armed ultras, including women,struck in the wee hours and ransacked the police outpost underKotagada police limits, about 140 km from here, Superintendentof Police Pravin Kumar said.
The red rebels set afire the building before disappearinginto the forest nearby shouting slogans against securityforces and anti-naxal operations, he said adding thatno casualty or injury was reported in the attack.
The Maoists also put up some posters in the areawarning against construction of new police buildings anddeployment of security forces, police sources said.
Additional force had been sent to the area forconducting combing and patrolling, they said.
The incident took place about a year after the redrebels blew up a police outpost at naxal-infested Katingiausing landmines, they said.
