MP cabinet approves annual budget of Sarvashiksha Abhiyan

Bhopal, Feb 9 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh government hasapproved the annual action plan and budget of the SarvashikshaAbhiyan for the year 2010-11 besides endorsing the Right toEducation Rules 2010.

Decisions in this regard were taken at a Cabinet meetingchaired by the Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan hereyesterday, an official release said here today.

The Sarvashiksha Abhiyan is being implemented with anobjective to achieve the target of universalisation ofeducation in the state.

One of the important objectives of theAbhiyan is to provide quality education with the cooperationof the community.

After the clearance of the annual action plan andbudget for the year 2010-11 by the Union Government forimplementation of the Right to Education Act, the StateCabinet has also endorsed it.

Under the action plan 2010-11, a total amount of Rs.

386584.975 lakh has been earmarked for Sarvashiksha Abhiyan, asum of Rs. 5963.173 lakh for NPEGEL and annual plan of Rs.

6892.242 lakh has been approved for Kasturba GandhiVidyalayas.

Further, under the action plan, 378 new primary schoolsare targeted to be opened for expansion of educationalfacilities in the state.

A total of 756 posts of contract teachers have beensanctioned so as to appoint two contract teachers each inevery new primary school. (More) PTI AS
