Prostitution should be legalised: Priya Dutt

Indore, Feb 8 (PTI) Stating that commercial sexworkers too are a part of the society, Congress M P Priya Dutttoday said their profession should be legalised.

"I feel that prostitution should be granted a legalstatus so that the livelihood of sex workers is not affected,"the Congress MP said at an interaction with media at theIndore pres press club.

"They are a part of the society, we can not ignoretheir rights," she said.

Priya also said that prostitution is known as theoldest profession in the world and it has to face exploitationby society, police and sometimes even by the media.

On the issue of suicides of farmers she said thatsince failure to repay loans was the biggest cause, thegovernment should make policies to facilitate loans at lowinterest rate.

Talking about rising prices, she said even she wasaffected as a housewife, but the central government was makingefforts to bring the inflation down.
