Guj Governor praises Indian pharma companies

Rajkot, Feb 7 (PTI) Gujarat Governor Dr Kamla todayprasied Indian pharmaceutical companies for research anddevelopment of a new drug saying that Indian pharmaceuticalcompanies are now not to be underestimated.

"Pharmaceautical companies of India are now able to copeup with the challenges of research and development of drugsfor diseases like malaria, TB and dengue," Kamla saidaddressing scientists, pharmacists and researchers on theconcluding session of Indian Society of Chemists andBiologists (ISCB) 15th International conference here.

City-based Lincoln Pharma today launched the long actingparacetamol pill of 1000 mg ''Pa12'' for sustained relief fromfever and pain for 12 hours.

ISCB president Dr Anamik Shah urged industrialists tocome forward and generously extend financial assistance inresearch and development of new drugs.

Indian pharma companies are ready to take lead to workfor noble cause by developing new durgs, he said.

Over 50 scientists from various countries and pharmacompanies took part in the four-day conference hosted by theSaurashtra University and supported by Central Drug ResearchInstitute (CDRI), Lucknow.
