Chouhan firm on going on hunger strike from Feb 13

Bhopal, Feb 7 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister ShivrajSingh Chouhan today reiterated that he will go on a hungerstrike from February 13 to protest the Centre''s discriminationagainst the state.

Addressing election meetings at Sonkatch Assemblyconstituency going to by-polls on February 14, Chouhan saidthe Centre was discriminating against the state in providingrelief package to mitigate the problems of farmers whose cropshad been damaged due to frost and cold wave condition lastmonth.

"The Centre has sanctioned economic package to theCongress ruled Andhra Pradesh as demanded for farmers. Butthis didn''t happen in case of BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh," aparty statement said.

The Chief Minister said that the state government hassanctioned Rs 700 crore for the farmers whose crops have beendamaged to the cold wave and frost.

Meanwhile, the state BJP chief Prabhat Jha todayinspected the tin shed area where Chouhan will sit on thehunger strike here and reviewed the preparations.

Earlier, Chouhan had announced to protest in New Delhibut now the venue has been changed to the state capital, thestatement said.
