Resolution allows Jaya to abstain bud session on health ground

Chennai, Feb 7 (PTI) The Tamil Nadu Assembly todaypassed a resolution allowing AIADMK chief and OppositionLeader Jayalalithaa to abstain herself from the ongoing budgetsession on health grounds.

Deputy Leader of AIADMK Legislature, O Panneerselvammoved a resolution in this regard, saying doctors have advisedthe former chief minister complete rest following her healthcondition.

Seconded by party whip K A Sengottaiyan, Speaker RAvudiyappan went for a voice vote on the resolution. AIADMKmembers supported it by while the DMK benches remained silent.

Jayalalithaa, known for making rare appearances asOpposition Leader, had not participated in a single day''sproceedings after the Assembly was shifted from the old FortSt George to the present new one, inaugurated by PrimeMinister Manmohan Singh on Mar 13, 2010.
