Minimum temperatures rise across Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, Feb 7 (PTI) With clouds hovering over theregion, minimum temperatures across Punjab, Haryana andChandigarh today witnessed a sharp rise between 5-12 degreesabove normal.

In comparison to yesterday''s low of 13.2 deg C, whichwas also six notches above normal, the minimum at Chandigarhtoday further rose to 18.7 deg C, up twelve degrees, the MeTsaid here.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 18 deg C, up tennotches, while the low at Karnal was 16.2 deg C, up eightdegrees.

The minimum temperature at Gurgaon was 14.5 deg C, upeight notches, while the low at Hisar settled at 15.9 deg C,nine above normal.

Narnaul recorded a low of 11.5 deg C, up five notches.

With temperatures also rising across Punjab today, thelow at Ludhiana settled at 17.6 deg C, up eleven degrees.

The minimum at Patiala rose to 16 deg C, up nine degrees,while the low at Amritsar also settled eleven notches abovenormal at 15.8 deg C.

The MeT said that the minimum temperatures in the regionhad risen because of cloud cover over the region.

During the past few days, the maximum temperatures inthe two states and Chandigarh, too, have been settling 4-8degrees above normal.
