Golden prarthana cradle for Palani temple
Palani (TN), Feb 7 (PTI) A Rs 1.6 crore ''golden prarthanacradle'', weighing six kg, was today dedicated to the famousLord Murugan temple here today by Hindu Religious andCharitable Endowment Minister K R Periakaruppan.
A Devotee from Hosur had donated the cradle. This was thesecond temple in Tamil Nadu Garbha Rakshambhika shrine inThanjavur to have the "prarthana cradle", in which devoteesmake their offering after their prayers are met.
The Minister also laid the foundation stone for variousbuildings, including a building for the Palani Andavar Arts''College and cottage for the pilgrims involving a total cost ofRs 11.50 crore today.
Prisons Minister I Periyasamy said the government wouldacquire land to provide more amenities for the pilgrims inPalani town.
