MCD''s new plan to augment advertisement revenue

New Delhi, Feb 5 (PTI) Aiming to augment its revenuethrough outdoor advertising, the MCD will focus on unipolesand ad sites within parking lots and is expected to invitetenders for them in three municipal zones next week.

The cash-strapped civic body is exploring ways toincrease its revenue and advertising is one of the key incomesources for it other than collection of property tax.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi today said in astatement that it is hoping to exceed the income target ofRs 60 crore during the current financial year through outdooradvertising and garner Rs 66 crore during the next fiscal.

"In order to exploit revenue generation potential to thefullest extent, MCD is seeking more revenue throughadvertisements by means of unipoles located within differentzones," it said.

It said the sites located with the MCD parking lots willalso be exploited.

The MCD will at first invite response from Sadar PaharGanj, City and Rohini Zones. On completion of the process inthese three zones, the work of revenue generation will beinitiated in the rest, the civic body added.

The tendering procedure would be held between February 7and 15.

While presenting the MCD''s 2011-12 budget in December,Municipal Commissioner K S Mehra had said the MCD has nearlyfinalised a new outdoor advertisement policy.

It has also identified 126 new sites for unipoles and 325new sites for wall or building wraps for advertisements and issecuring revenue shares from DDA, PWD and other departments,he had said.
