HC issues notice to end strike in Cochin Port
Kochi, Feb 4 (PTI) Kerala High Court today issued urgentnotice to Cochin Port Trust, state and Central governments andrecognise trade unions of Cochin Port Trust to take steps toend the ongoing workers strike in the port.
While admitting a writ petition filed by Seafood ExportAssociation of India and Kitex Garments, Justice P N Ravindranasked about possibility of mediation in the issue. The courtposted the case to February 7 for appearance of parties.
Petitioners sought deployment of CISF to ensure protectionagainst any possible sabotage by the striking employees.
They also sought for a direction for the movement ofcontainers without any restrictions in the event of indefinitedelay.
The workers on a strike for the past few days to presstheir demands.
